This sensually sweet floral aroma has been used as an aphrodisiac for centuries. Jasmine supports the nervous system and is especially helpful for the mature woman’s changing needs and dry, sensitive skin. The plant is an evergreen shrub or vine that grows to 10 metres, with delicate bright green leaves and star shaped white flowers that bloom at night. The plant is native to China, but China produces very little essential oil. Most of the essential oil produced is from India, France, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Italy and Turkey. Called the "King of Flower Oils", this oil has been famous since the earliest days as an aphrodisiac. The essential oil is very costly because of the enormous quantity of flowers needed to produce a relatively small amount of oil. The labour costs are also pushed up because the flowers are gathered at night. Remember that "bargains" in Jasmine oil should be questioned by knowledgeable therapists.
